Life and Money Goals to Get Out of my Own Debt Crunch
Pay Day and End of Week Two – Starting over is tough. Found a small child care center with openings for the boys and they start on Tuesday with the start of school – having to pay a week in advance… I paid my neice for watching the boys this week and then on my lunch break, ran over to pay the center for the boys after school care for next week.
I have not yet been able to get in forty hours of work because I’ve had to make two trips down state for appointments already in place for the boys. I have one more such travel day coming up mid-week where we have crammed four medical appointments into one day. It’s around 5 hours of travel one way so we have to stay overnight and I miss a day of work.
A co-worker today made a comment about being a parent… “When do you think parents get to relax and consider their kids all set?”
Gosh – I felt all jumbled on on that one because #1 – My parents still worry about me even though I’m 45 (on my own with two special needs boys and a crappy car doesn’t instill them with peace of mind) and #2 I really don’t think I’ll ever be “free” to be more than a mother because when my boys reach eighteen – I will be 59.
Most professionals involved with the boys suggest that my 6 year old will always need support – beyond adulthood.
That is one reason I want to get my finances on track and whittle down my debt so I can build that nest egg that will carry me and in through whatever comes our way.
As for pay day – paid a total of $162 for childcare today. Filled my gas tank – $45 for regular. I’ve set aside the $150 for the hotel and gas for the trip downstate – leaving little for much else.
Light at the end of the tunnel – Goals within Reach!
The good news is that after this trip on Wednesday I will have a regular working schedule – meaning getting my 40 hours will be doable because the boys will be either in school or at the child care center (with other school age kids!).
Steady income and a workable plan I can stick to is where I’m focusing right now. What are you working on to get out from under the Debt Crunch?
