My personal budget update and car problems

This week’s – Since my birthday is in a couple days, I had to renew my nursing license. In Maine, registered nurses renew licenses every two years by your birthday. With that paid, the rest of my money on hand will go to repairs for my car to get a sticker. I’ve also asked them to find out exactly what is wrong with my air conditioner/defrost control panel (anyone know the exact name of whatever controls the heat and defrost in a vehicle??)

Anyway, I may not have enough to get what is making my car simply blow hot air no mater what knobs I turn without sending any of this broiling heat in the direction of the windshield actually FIXED but I should be able to get an estimate. Estimates seem easy to get… at least for me!

So this week, no work on my debts or even my current bills until NEXT Friday but now that the car is registered and insurance isn’t due again until the 21st – getting a new inspection sticker should mean I’m okay until snow flies and I absolutely need the defrost problem fixed. This is northern Maine after all.

I’m all set – childcare paid for, rent paid, nursing license renewed, car registered, grocery shopping done so my next job is to get my stuff out of storage because it’s eating up money just holding my STUFF. Until we get our own place, I’m going to try to integrate what I can here in Mom’s house.

I may try to sell what I won’t need for a while and can afford to replace down the road rather than pay 75 dollars a month just to keep what I will use someday when I have pulled together enough money to secure my own place for me and the boys. It’s going slow – nothing much accummulated for the move and no emergency fund… yet but I’m sticking to my .

My conversation with the holder of my student loans led me to believe my past due piece would be rolled into my principle and I only had to pay my current monthly payment since I refinanced it BUT today (of course, on a Saturday) I get a bill from them saying I am still past due and need to pay $600 by the 21st. Not cool.

Monday is Columbus Day so I’m not sure if they are open then BUT I will be calling them to find out exactly how much money I need to scrounge up to get my student loans current again. Happy Birthday to this chick just trying to get back on my feet and out of this debt crunch.
